House Demolitions: Ban settlement trade
On Monday 22nd July hundreds of Israeli soldiers stormed the Palestinian area Wadi Hummus, in the Sur Baher neighbourhood of East Jerusalem, and began bulldozing residential homes. Home demolitions are caused directly by Israel’s ongoing policy of settlement expansion - and used to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their land. Every settlement is illegal under international law and considered a war crime.
The UK is legally required to taken action as a third state actor in upholding international law, and this means not facilitating and supporting settlement infrastructure with trade. Now is the time for a complete ban on trade with illegal settlements.
