<p>Dear Foreign Secretary,</p><div>I am writing to express my deep concern about Britain’s complicity in the systematic abuse of Palestinian prisoners by Israeli authorities - adults and children alike - thousands of whom are subjected to arbitrary arrest, torture, and inhumane detention conditions in clear violation of international law.</div><div> </div><div>Since October 2023, Israel has ramped up its illegal incarceration practices against Palestinians in tandem with its genocidal assault against the Gaza Strip. The British government’s continued political and military support to Israel renders it complicit in these crimes.</div><div> </div><div>Thousands of Palestinians are currently held under administrative detention, imprisoned without charge or trial. Children as young as 12 are routinely arrested in night raids, interrogated without legal counsel, and subjected to solitary confinement and physical abuse. Palestinians are routinely transferred illegally into Israel, where they experience horrific conditions including torture, sexual abuse, and medical neglect.</div><div> </div><div>These practices are not isolated incidents, but part of a broader system of repression that seeks to silence Palestinian resistance and maintain Israeli domination. Israel’s use of mass incarceration is a tool of political control, and a manifestation of its system of apartheid. Torture, unlawful imprisonment, and other deprivations of liberty are specified as elements of the crime of apartheid under international law.</div><div> </div><div>As a nation that claims to uphold human rights and the rule of law, Britain must take immediate steps to end its complicity. I urge you to stop all arms trade and military cooperation with Israel, as well as any other trade or activity that aids or assists Israel to maintain its illegal occupation.</div>
