Keep Netanyahu out of the UK: Sign the letter to David Cameron now

The Israeli press is reporting that Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is due to visit London in September to meet David Cameron.

As a serving Prime Minster, Netanyahu is immune from arrest for his war crimes. But that shouldn't stop us from shaming David Cameron and his government for welcoming him to the UK, and making clear to Netanyahu that he won’t have immunity for ever. We are committed to bringing him to justice, however long it takes.

Sign PSC's letter to David Cameron, and tell him to get his priorities straight - impose an immediate arms embargo and sanctions on Israel. Don't meet with its war criminal leaders.

We'll deliver the letter to Number 10 Downing Street on your behalf.

Dear Mr Cameron

We write to express our strong opposition to the scheduled visit of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to London in September as a guest of the British government.

As Israeli Prime Minister, Mr Netanyahu bears direct responsibility for the war crimes identified by the UN Human Rights Council following Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza last summer, which killed more than 2,000 Palestinian women, children and men in the space of seven weeks.

War crimes are also being committed through the presence of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, in contravention of the 1949 Geneva Convention. The illegal settlements they live in continue to expand under Mr Netanyahu’s government, in an ongoing acquisition of Palestinian territory which is war by another name.

In further breaches of international law, Mr Netanyahu presides over the Israeli military occupation of East Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank and the blockade of Gaza. His government’s policies deliberately deny the entire Palestinian people their right to live freely and the right to determine their own political futures. Instead, the Palestinians suffer under the segregationist, apartheid policies imposed on them by the Israeli state, while living in constant fear of Israeli attack.

Last year, more than 150,000 people marched through the streets of London and other towns and cities across the UK in protest at Israel’s massacre in Gaza. Their integrity in standing up to Israel’s war crimes should be matched by your government.

Mr Netanyahu may be immune from prosecution for war crimes while he is Prime Minister, but he should be given the clear message that, as a result of his actions, he is not welcome here.

It does no credit to the British government to welcome and meet with this war criminal. We urge you to reconsider his visit and, instead of welcoming him to the UK, to impose an immediate arms embargo and sanctions on Israel until it complies with international law and ends the occupation and the siege on Gaza.

Yours sincerely
