Every childhood is worth fighting for - write to the NSPCC

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) uses the motto "every childhood is worth fighting for". Please remind them that this includes Palestinian children.

We have enormous respect for the work of the NSPCC, but are dismayed by their continuing partnership with JCB - a company deeply complicit in Israeli crimes against Palestinian children. At least 170 Palestinian children were made homeless in 2021 by JCB machines, knowingly supplied to Israel for the purpose of demolishing Palestinian homes and ethnically cleansing families from their land.

I'm writing as a supporter and friend of the NSPCC, but am dismayed to hear about its ongoing partnership with JCB. Amnesty International published their report "<a href="https://www.amnesty.org.uk/jcb">JCB Off Track</a>", which details JCB's complicity in crimes against Palestinian children. It is utterly indefensible for the NSPCC to carry on whitewashing JCB's profiteering from the misery of Palestinian families by accepting cash from them. JCB machines were documented demolishing the homes of at least 170 Palestinian children in 2021 alone. Demolitions are extremely traumatic for children, who witness their entire communities under threat. This affects every aspect of their childhood - for example, 57 Palestinian schools are currently slated for demolition. A UK Government body - the National Contact Point - found that JCB does not have the minimum basics of a human rights due diligence process to identify and address human rights violations within its value chain. There is now overwhelming evidence of JCB’s complicity in war crimes and the suffering of Palestinian children... which makes it an entirely inappropriate and unethical partner for the NSPCC. JCB has chosen to ignore the advice of human rights experts to maximise its profits. I understand that numerous human rights campaigners have raised this issue, and that - after consultation - the NSPCC decided to continue accepting JCB's dirty money. I strongly urge you to reconsider this position, or else risk severely damaging your reputation. The NSPCC has a fantastic motto that "every childhood is worth fighting for". Does this not include the Palestinian children whose homes are knowingly being destroyed by machines supplied by JCB? According to Amnesty International, JCB has taken a "see no evil, hear no evil" approach to the use of its bulldozers by Israel in order to maximise profits. I would've hoped that the NSPCC had a stronger ethical approach than this.
