Email your MP to demand justice for Shireen Abu Akleh

The brutal killing of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was a horrific demonstration of Israel's long-standing practice of targeting journalists, medics, and other civilians with armed violence, often with fatal results. Shireen's name has now been added to the long list of journalists killed or injured by Israeli armed forces--none of their families have found justice after these devastating and unlawful killings.

Whether it is attacks on journalists, arbitrary detention of lawyers, or criminalisation of human rights organisations, Israel has a clear pattern of aiming to silence Palestinians who are documenting state and settler violence as well as those who advocate against it.

A first step towards justice for Shireen would be an independent investigation into her killing taking into account Israel's systematic targeting of journalists working in Palestine, as MPs from across parties have called for in Early Day Motion (EDM) 34. Ask your MP to add their name to EDM 34, and to further press for UK action to defend journalists and human rights defenders.
