I am writing in regard to the AOC Europe 2021 fair scheduled to take place at the council-owned ACC Exhibition Centre in October. I am calling on you to immediately revoke permission for the heinous event to avoid incurring further reputational damage to the venue, city, and Council. 
At this fair, arms merchants, whose weapons have been used to target civilian populations around the world, are due to use Liverpool to market and sell their arms and military technology.
Hosting the fair is a severe abrogation of the moral and ethical duties of the ACC and is inimical to the values of the City. The event has been rightly condemned by a variety of civil society organisations, MPs, City Councillors, and thousands of Liverpool residents.
Many of the fair’s attendees have sold weapons to the Israeli state, deployed on the Palestinian population in Gaza. This includes the exhibitors Elta and Rafael. In addition, one of the fair’s attendees is listed as Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest private weapons manufacturer. Elbit weaponry has been used repeatedly to target the civilian population of the besieged Gaza strip. <a href="https://www.whoprofits.org/company/elbit-systems/">85% of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles used by the Israeli military are manufactured by Elbit.</a> Just this May, Israel began yet another ceaseless bombardment of the population of the besieged enclave, killing over 260 Palestinians, over a quarter of them children.
In addition, a range of companies supplying Saudi Arabia with weapons and military technology are due to be present this October, <a href="https://caat.org.uk/homepage/stop-arming-saudi-arabia/companies-supplying-the-war-in-yemen/">including MDBA, who supply missiles to the RSAF.</a>  BAE Systems, a major supply to Saudi Arabia, are also due to be presenting at the event. The Saudi-led coalition’s intervention in Yemen has contributed heavily to the man-made humanitarian catastrophe unfolding. <a href="https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2015/09/yemen-the-forgotten-war/">At least 20,000 civilians have been killed since March 2015</a>. A report by Save the Children in 2018 estimated that<a href="https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/blogs/2018/starvation-in-yemen-85000-children-may-have-died-of-hunger#:~:text=An%20estimated%2085%2C000%20children%20under,analysis%20by%20Save%20the%20Children.&text=Almost%20four%20years%20after%20the,be%20at%20risk%20of%20famine."> 85,000 children have starved to death since the war began</a>. 
That the ACC, and by extension the Council, is planning to profit from the marketing and sale of deadly weapons that have been deployed on civilians around the world, is abhorrent.
Public opinion in Liverpool is firmly against the fair taking place. By hosting the fair, you will cause severe reputational damage to the city, its political representatives, and to yourselves.
Please confirm without hesitation that permission for the fair has been revoked.
