6 years ago, Israel’s aerial bombardment and ground invasion of besieged Gaza killed over 2,200 Palestinians, nearly a quarter of them children. Yet, HSBC continues to provide investment, loans, and other financial services to companies that provide Israel with weapons and military technologies used to attack Palestinian civilians.

HSBC must end its complicity in Israel’s gross violations of international law and Palestinian human rights by ending its relationship with companies that supply Israel with weapons and military technology, like Raytheon and Caterpillar.

6 years ago Israel’s aerial bombardment and ground invasion of besieged Gaza killed over 2,200 Palestinians, nearly a quarter of them children. Yet, HSBC continues to provide investment, loans, and other financial services to companies that provide Israel with weapons and other technology used to attack Palestinian civilians.
HSBC must end its complicity in Israel’s gross violations of international law and Palestinian human rights by ending its relationship with companies that supply Israel with weapons and military technology, like Raytheon and Caterpillar.
Israel can only maintain its militarised repression of the Palestinian people because weapons and military equipment it receives from a range of companies. HSBC maintains shares, and provides loans and financial services to over a dozen companies that supply Israel with weaponry. This includes £69 million of shares in Raytheon, whose “bunker buster” bombs were used by Israel to target civilian homes during its 2014 assault on Gaza. The United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on the 2014 Gaza conflict found credible allegations that Israel had committed war crimes through its indiscriminate targeting of civilians.
I know you’ve heard this information before, and have a stock response ready to roll out to respond to the letters you receive on the issue regularly.  
Supporters of Palestinian human rights have been taking action targeting your deadly investments week in, week out, for years.
So, I want to give you just one example, demonstrating why we won’t stop campaigning.
On 8th July 2014 3,000 displaced civilians squashed into Jabalia Elementary School, seeking refuge from Israel’s intense bombardment. Just after the morning call to prayer, 4 high explosive artillery shells blasted through the roof of the two-storey school, killing at least 20 Palestinians and injuring over 100. The school was supposed to be a sanctuary; the UN had informed Israel of the school’s location seventeen times.
As the shells hit, Ahmad Ramadan Ghaban ran towards the school, having just returned from prayers. Recounting his story to UNRWA he said “I did not know what to do or where to go.” “I kept thinking that we would all die. I kept thinking about my poor children. It is the worst feeling in the world, to be so completely helpless that you can’t save your own family.”
Investigate, a project by the American Friends Service Committee, <a href="https://investigate.afsc.org/company/raytheon-technologies">reports that there is credible evidence to suggest Raytheon manufactured weapons were used in the attack.</a>
This attack is just one of many. Yet, it encapsulates why, as a supporter of human rights, I won’t stop until you’ve divested every last penny from companies that provide Israel with the means to carry out such attacks.
HSBC must immediately divest from companies complicit in Israel’s attacks on Palestinian civilians, such as the attack on Jabalia Elementary School.
